So far this has been a rough week for Grace. Aside from being in more physical pain than usual she's also in emotional pain. A young man that was one of my pre-schoolers with her passed away this weekend. He was a year ahead of her and she probably walked by him several times a day at school. She is so sad.
I remember him as an adorable four year old always ready to run outside and play. I think one of Grace's favorite memories of him comes from a rough time in her life. When she was in seventh grade she had back surgery and was out of school for a few months. The first day she returned to school for a short visit he was the first person that approached her and asked how she was doing. I know he surprised her. He wasn't someone that usually asked her those kinds of things, but he showed her another side of him. the side that had compassion for others.
It's always hard when anyone dies, I think especially when it's a young person. Grace is having a rough time accepting that he's gone. She's sad and angry that it was him and not someone that has already lived a long life.
It's hard to find the right thing to say to her, I don't have the answers that she wants, don't know that anyone does.
Please pray for all the kids in our community and especially the family of this young man. He will be forever missed.
